The dangers of the free online dating service

While there are many situations in which a person should opt to go on a date that costs little money, I call these the free date situations, there are many times when these dates can be absolutely disastrous.  I am going to tell you about some of the things that can go wrong with a free date in the hopes that you will be able to avoid these free date pitfalls.  If you fall into one of them anyway, do not be to hard on yourself, because everyone, and I do mean everyone, experiences a bad date from time to time.

The first disaster is the “my date hates what we are doing” disaster.  In truth, this can happen whether or not you go on a free date or a date that costs money, but it seems to happen more often on a free date.  The reason the dinner and a movie cliché date has survived so long is that everyone needs to eat, and a movie is a low stress environment.  Often on a first date you may not know that much about what your date likes.  If your date hates to look at art, taking her to an art walk may not pan out that well.  If your date hates what you are doing it can make it hard to get to know your date better.  It will generally be evident if your date is not having fun, so try and correct the situation if it starts to go awry. 

The second disaster is that your date is just shallow.  There is no real way to avoid this disaster, and if you date is this shallow you may not want to see them anymore anyway.  Some people only feel that a good date is one where money is spent on them.  This disaster can be good, in a way, because it will expose what your date is really like very early on in the date.  Few things are less attractive than someone who is proud of being a gold digger.   

The third disaster is that you committed to something that takes a long time to do and neither one of you are having a good time.  Some things take at least 2 hours to enjoy, such as a museum that requires a drive, or a concert featuring live music.  Sometimes two people are just not meant to be together, and this can often be evident early on.  If you are on a free date that takes a lot of time before either of you can get away from one another, it can be disastrous.  There is nothing worse than sitting through a concert with a person that you cannot wait to get away from.

Going on a free date from a online dating service can often be a fun and enjoyable experience, so do not let these free date pitfalls deter you from trying one!  If you are careful and put some planning into it you are sure to have a great free date.
